The Mutiny Outreach Integration helps Account teams identify prospects and track website activity. The integration adds a custom tracking parameter to links included in emails that are sent through Outreach which allow Mutiny to identify prospects that click through. After identifying your prospects, Mutiny will track all of their future website activity and alert you when they are on your site.
Why Integrate
- Prospect Identification: this integration identifies your prospects who click on a link to your website from an email sent by your Sales team in Outreach.
-
Website Activity Tracking: Mutiny will then track this prospect’s website activity and alert your sales team in real time when they visit the site and what pages they are viewing.
- Your Sales Team can be notified via our slack integration or they can view this data in real time in the Mutiny Web Extension.
- Outreach Segments in Mutiny: You can segment website visitors coming in from Outreach emails or sequences and create personalized experiences for them with Mutiny.

Technical Overview
How it works
- The Mutiny Outreach Integration connects to your Outreach instance to provide link tracking functionality for Outreach emails and basic data ingestion to power website personalization with first party data.
- The link tracker works by appending a unique token to any URL in an email body sent through Outreach. Outreach issues a webhook request with a payload that contains all of the links included in an email body. Mutiny will process this request and append an
mtl=<unique token>
query parameter to the provided links. When the email recipient clicks through one of the tracked links, the Mutiny client will parse themtl=<unique token>
query parameter in order to identify the website visitor as the email recipient. This identification can be used for powerful 1:1 website personalization as well as rich account-based-reporting in the Mutiny dashboard. - In addition to tracking email links, Mutiny will ingest prospect, account, and sequence data from your Outreach instance. This data enables users to create personalized experiences and audience segments within Mutiny that leverage this first party data.
- Mutiny’s tracking only works for pages that have the Mutiny client on it. For example, if you send an email with a link to https://google.com, we won't add a token to it because your company doesn’t have the Mutiny client on google.com.
- Mutiny will still be able to track and identify contacts even if you disable email click tracking in Outreach.
Permissions and Data storage
- The Mutiny Outreach Extension requires read-only permissions with the exception of read, write, and delete permissions to manage its own webhook subscriptions. The webhook subscriptions are necessary to keep Mutiny in sync with your Outreach data.
- Mutiny stores Prospect and Account profile data for usage in website personalization as well as Sequence and Sequence step names for usage in Mutiny’s audience segment builder.
- At no point does Mutiny store the contents of emails or other correspondence managed in Outreach.
Does Mutiny’s link tracking impact email deliverability?
With our Outreach integration, Mutiny automatically adds a token (similar to a UTM parameter) to your existing URL so that we can track when links are clicked and identify the contact who clicked the link.
Because we are not changing the URL, using redirects, or inserting a tracking pixel, we are able to identify and track contacts without impacting deliverability the same way that traditional open/click tracking can.
Mutiny can still track and identify contacts even if you disable email click tracking in Outreach.
