This article helps you set expectations for the typical API call volume when integrating Mutiny with Salesforce. Understanding these call ranges can aid in planning your integration strategy.
Mutiny and Salesforce Integration
Mutiny integrates with Salesforce through its API to exchange data. This data exchange involves various API calls depending on the specific functionalities used. Here's a breakdown of the calls for different scenarios:
-
Data Ingestion into Mutiny: Mutiny can ingest data from Salesforce objects. You can expect roughly 1 API call per 2,000 records for a specific object.
-
Writing Data to Salesforce: Creating or updating a campaign triggers 1 API call. Additionally, writing campaign members incurs calls at a rate of roughly 25 members per API call.
-
Platform Actions: Some actions while navigating and engaging in the Mutiny platform may invoke an API call, such as viewing the Salesforce integration page, and uses a minimal number of API calls, most customers see only a handful.
Data Synchronization
Let's look at how Mutiny ingests your data and keeps it up to date:
- Initial Setup: The initial setup process triggers a full download of all records within the chosen Salesforce objects.
- Daily Sync: After the initial download, Mutiny performs a daily synchronization to keep data current. This daily update only retrieves records with changes since the last sync, leveraging the "last modified" date stamp on each record. This helps minimize API calls.
- Manual Sync: Clicking the "sync now" button initiates a manual synchronization for any records in the chosen object that have been updated since the last sync.
- Field Mapping Changes: If you modify field mappings for an object, it triggers a full download for that specific object to ensure data consistency.
API Call Volume Ranges
Ultimately, your API call volume will vary depending on several factors, such as the volume of data in Salesforce, frequency and scale of updates to records, and updates or usage within Mutiny.
Mutiny does have API call volume anomaly detection in place to rapidly identify any outliers. Should you have any concerns about your integration or call volumes please reach out to Mutiny Support for assistance. If you ever need to suspend the integration for any reason, as a best practice we recommend doing so from the Salesforce side as deactivating in Mutiny limits our ability to investigate any concerns.
