You can dynamically insert data directly into your experiences so that different users see a personalized experience on your site. For example, you could dynamically include a customer's company into your website copy.
How to insert dynamic variables
Before inserting dynamic variables, you need to be sure that the data source you want to dynamically insert exists as a definition in your segment. For example, if you wanted to insert the Clearbit company name, you need to be sure that Clearbit exists somewhere in your segment definition.
To insert dynamic variables, click on the <> button in the content editor and select the variable you'd like to insert.
You'll see that the content you've selected in the content box will now be represented by a variable.
Fallback when data does not exist
There may be instances where data that you want to insert dynamically does not exist for a current user. If that happens, Mutiny will fall back to displaying the default version of your website. If you've inserted data into a component, we'll fall back to not displaying the component.
If you're utilizing dynamic data, we always recommend making sure that your default website is visitor friendly (don't have copy that says "insert company name here").
